Polo Club President Hannah Middleton Cope and Tournament Director Jonathan Gregory re-launched the University of St Andrews Charity Polo Tournament in 2015.

It’s purpose is to raise awareness of the sport of polo in the University of St Andrews and Scotland as well as raise money for the care of UK veterans through the charity Help for Heroes.

Now the largest polo tournament in Scotland the event boasts an attendance of more than 1,500 students, locals, and polo players.

Jonathan Meyers Gregory, tournament organizer, approached us to sponsor the Polo match between St Andrews University and the Royal Scots Dragoons Guards (Carabiniers and Greys).

We were delighted that we could become involved with the charity ‘ Help for Heroes’.

We managed to source a sterling silver Polo Trophy Cup that was perfect for the occasion. It was made by J. Daffern & Company from London and the hallmark dates 1926.

We applied the teams logos as well as our own and lo and behold we had the Hayward & Stott Cup.

The 2 teams will battle it out once a year at this annual event to win the cup. This year it was the Royal Scots Dragoons who beat St Andrews with a close score of 3-2.

We are looking forward to next year already. The whole day was a roaring success. It has even been named as one of the highlights of the social calendar for St Andrews.

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity! It was an absolute pleasure working with Amy and the rest of the team at Scottish Silver.

I am looking forward to next year when we can hopefully bring the Cup home to St Andrews!
