The Cup of Friendship
Originating in the Highlands, where clan chiefs prized them as a token of hospitality, Quaich’s for centuries have symbolised friendship. Traditionally a shallow drinking cup with two handles on opposite sides which were typically carved out of wood. Both practical and decorative these cups were used to offer a welcoming drink (usually whisky) at clan gatherings and family occasions. In particular weddings, where the Quaich symbolises shared love between the couple.
Your Wooden Quaich
Today the Quaich is still commonly gifted to mark a special occasion. Most notably at christening, wedding, anniversary, retirement or a significant birthday. Gifting a Quaich represents an expression of friendship and celebration. We give you the option of adding a personal message to make this gift even more unique. Whether you’d like a phrase, initials or a date, our in house team are able to put a small engraving on the sterling silver lugs or on the silver disc.
