The Walker Quaich

The Walker Quaich

Just before Christmas last year a gentleman by the name of Malcolm Walker got in touch with us to commission a trophy using one of our Sterling Silver Quaichs.

We helped him to choose our large Scroll handled Quaich, had it fitted to a wooden plinth and engraved it: The Walker Quaich.

This is Malcolm presenting Mrs. Susan Clarke, Head of Rowan Preparatory School for Girls in Claygate, Surrey with the Trophy. The Quaich is to be awarded annually to a deserving student for Musicianship.

In Malcolm’s own words ‘my role was very humble. I was the accompanist for the choir, which met every Thursday morning at 8am. I was a volunteer, having been ‘volunteered’ by my daughter who is the Registrar at the school. This was about seven or eight years ago when they found themselves without an organist for their Christmas carol concert. I had trained as a musician (at what is now called the Royal Scottish Conservatoire) but had instead changed horses after a year to join the BBC, where I stayed until my retirement.’

We were delighted to be able to help create this trophy for Malcolm and wish him all the best in his future pursuits.
